A famous Mexican painting

"El Cardón" (The Candelabrum), is a painting created by the renowned Mexican landscape artist José María Velasco in 1887. Through his detailed and almost scientific representation of Mexican wildlife and landscapes, Velasco celebrated the diversity and uniqueness of the Mexican countryside. Artists like him laid the foundation for what we now know as Mexico's artistic identity. This type of cactus can be found in arid and semiarid region of states like Guerrero, Puebla and Oaxaca.
